Jess Owen and Sadie’s Sleep Journey

When Jess reached out for support, her daughter Sadie was 9 months old. Their days (and nights) had become unpredictable, some days Sadie needed three naps, she struggled to resettle between sleep cycles. Her routine was off balance, leading to late bedtimes and frequent false starts.

Sadie was being fed to sleep, which was a method that had worked beautifully for her and her mum for many months. But Jess felt ready to take the next step and support Sadie to learn to settle and sleep more independently.

At this stage, Sadie had also just started solids, but she wasn’t showing much interest in food yet, taking only a few spoonfuls at each meal.

Sadie’s personalised sleep plan focused on creating balance in her routine and ensuring her sleep pressure was just right. We introduced a consistent wind-down routine to help her recognise the signs that sleep was coming and this also became a lovely moment of connection between Jess and Sadie, now that feeding to sleep was no longer part of the bedtime routine.

Jess was given a variety of responsive settling methods to choose from, choosing what she felt most comfortable implementing. Every approach I offer is gentle, supportive, responsive which aligned perfectly with what Jess wanted.

Sadie was so ready for this transition and took to self-settling beautifully. On day one, she was already comfortable in her cot, drifting off to sleep with her mum by her side, offering reassurance when needed.

Within days, she began settling more easily and eventually started falling asleep on her own with just minimal support.

Sadie’s journey wasn’t just about improving her sleep it was also about supporting her solids journey too. Before we began, Sadie’s appetite was small, but once her routine was more balanced and she was having fewer milk feeds, her hunger and curiosity for food grew.

For Jess, who is a baker, this was particularly special. Food has always been a big part of their family life, and seeing Sadie start to finish her meals and enjoy food was such a rewarding milestone.

What Jess had to say

“Hannah is such an incredible sleep consultant. She helped us from frequent night wakes, false starts and disrupted naps to a thriving sleep routine with all of us getting so much more sleep. Her routine for our 9-month-old baby has seen her thriving and so much happier.

Hannah is supportive and understanding that curve balls are thrown with teething and sickness and that sometimes things change, but she's kind and is right there alongside you supporting every step of the way only with what you are comfortable with.

We thought all sleep consultants would tell us to leave our baby to cry with the door closed until they fall asleep, but we didn't have to do this whatsoever. We took a really gentle approach with Hannah’s live text support and now have a baby who settles so nicely into restful sleeps. Thank you for everything, Hannah!”

Sadie’s story is such a beautiful reminder that sleep support isn’t just about longer naps or fewer wakes, it’s about helping families feel confident, connected, and rested. With consistency, the right plan, and a gentle approach, real progress can happen so quickly.
